Decorating for Fall

Thank you all so much for the lovely birthday wishes!!  I truly had the best birthday.

I was over at Linda's Life Journal ( a great Blog, BTW) and she loves decorating for different seasons even more than I do. In fact she's done for Fall already ♥♥♥.       I had to make a quick trip to the Dollar Store to get a few more things and I was ready to start.  Those who object to rushing the season should maybe quit reading right about now.

I started with the front door using the same GATHER sign as last year.

I had taken out my pear/lemon collection last week....that's not TOO Fall-ish.

This cast iron basket full of different nuts comes out every year too.

Eldest daughter gave me this 2 tiered wire stand in the summer but I never got around to using it until now.

If you're still here I thank you for your visit today. Do you plan on doing much in the way of decorating for the season? Let me know in the comments.

  2. No, I don't decorate for the seasons (except for Christmas). I just keep everything I like out all the time so I don't have anything put away in boxes. :)
    Love that quote.

  4. Love your decorations, Granny. Yes we decorate for Fall in a big way.....will probably start in another week. Hubby has a big birthday this weekend, so that takes prominence right now!

  5. In the last few years I have often bought several heirloom pumpkins with which to decorate my front walk. Then in winter I would bake them and use all the pulp eventually. But I've decided not to do that anymore. I prefer butternut squash, etc. to eat, and it has been a lot of work processing all that pumpkin. So this year I might not have any decoration at all. I will just look out the window at my snowball bush turning beautiful colors.

  6. Your decorations are very pretty. I haven't started any fall decorating yet because it's just too hot. Summer is obviously still in full dress here. It is 10:15 at night here and it's still 101F (feels like temperature). Tomorrow is supposed to be 10 degrees cooler than today and I can't wait for that. :-)
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  7. I am like you, I love Fall and Fall decoration. I am going on holidays beginning of September and then start my decoration. The storm yesterday did not hit us too much and now the heat is gone and we can breathe again 21 C today how nice.

  8. Oh, you're doing so well. How cool is it that you're sharing this on your blog? Nah, I haven't started yet, but my foreign blog buddies like you really get me excited. Dutch folks aren't really big on seasonal home decor. I used to do it when the kids were little though. But you've got me all super hyped up. So now I'm thinking: how do I dive in? What do I have lying around? I've got loads of squirrels in the house because I collect them. They're wooden ones, I've got a squirrel pillow, I've got squirrel figurines. I reckon that's a good start. And then I could gather pinecones on my next walk, try stringing them up on a thread and hang them. Maybe I should peek around online... Thanks for your blog. 😊🐿️

  9. Your house looks very ready for Autumn. Decorating for Fall is something we just dont do here.. It would be nice if we did, but it isnt a British tradition.

  10. I used to like Fall; but now it's just a reminder of how soon it will be winter...and I hate winter. Sooooooo, I make summer last as long as possible. I don't really decorate for anything but Christmas. Enjoyed seeing your singer sewing machine. I have an old one here in my office. That's the type of machine I learned to sew on. Is yours still usable?

  12. My Autumn decorations will come out after summer is officially over, like the first of October. But to each her own. We should all do what makes us happy.

  13. I love each season as they come, my body clock just seems to adjust and appreciates the changes. I will change my decor to Fall in a week or so as I always hate to leave the ‘old’ season behind. I mostly put out Autumnal treasures, like glass pumpkins, squirrels, and early Americana items…I’m not too big on scary Halloween but I do like a cute Frankenstein :-) Thanks for sharing your blog, I always enjoy visiting with you. xo, V.

  14. I am happy to have a sister blogger who loves Fall like I do!!! Your decorations are great! I had to make a trip to the Dollar store myself and will be going to Hobby Lobby next week. I finished the sewing room a few days ago but have been working the book fair so I will take pics tonight and hopefully post. I am down to the hall, both bathrooms and bedroom and guest room AND gazebo! I have a yellow lemons and honey bee theme out there and I guess I will use all my 'leftover' decorations whenever the heat moderates. It's supposed to be in the 90's for a few days next week - and that back up in the triple digits!! Good GRIEF!!! Still, I am loving all the golden glow inside my house!

Last year I did the Great Pumpkin project of carving 31 pumpkins - one each evening. I do not think I will be doing that again this year. Arthritic hands, can't see to drive at night and at $5-9 a pumpkin, too expensive. We tried to grow some but that didn't work. Maybe next year! The goats loved all the pumpkins I used for decoration! We fed them through the winter.

  17. My! My! your ARE anxious to see Autumn arrive. It's my favorite time of year but I am still savoring the last remnants of summer while it lasts. I usually start decorating my house for Autumn towards the end of September. You must stop by to take a look.
