More rain again today although we did get our walk in before it began. In spite of all the dreary days flowers are blooming. I went around with taking pictures of a few starting with some Irises.
And the Oriental Poppies. Did you know they are native to northeastern Turkey and northern Iran?
I can't remember what this low-growing plant is called. I have quite a lot of it along the front of this bed.
The big old Mock Orange is in full bloom, half hidden in the very back. Behind it is where the Weigela is just finished blooming.
The weather forecast if for an end to the rain by Wednesday and temperatures in the high 20's by Thursday. As unaccustomed as we are to warm temps we're apt to be in shock . We'll go from wearing sweaters to A/C. I'll let you know. Meanwhile I think I better bake bread for the week tomorrow. I won't want to have the oven on when it gets hot out.
Thanks for visiting
Your flowers are all so beautiful. Thank you for the pictures of the irises especially. Some real beauties there!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful irises and the oriental poppies look wonderful.
ReplyDeleteWhen it's very hot, it's no fun to heat up the oven. I have also been baking my own bread for a long time and it is very popular in the family.
Have a lovely week with lovely walks and everything else that might be lovely...

p.s. Great picture of the lady in the red dress with a white apron in the kitchen - we recognize each other ;-))) even though it was a while ago...
That yellow iris is sooo yellow...o just love it. Actually, I love every iris I have ever seen. They are one if my favorite flowers.
ReplyDeleteThe rain will stop this week and after a terrible month of May we were happy to see the sun during our outing! It was also very cold 12 C but today 22 C!
ReplyDeleteYour irises are beautiful
Our iris have peaked, so I'm enjoying everyone else's. Thanks! Your photographs are lovely.
ReplyDeleteYour irises are so lovely especially the white & blue one - would love to have one of those in my garden! Mine are slow to flower this year or so it seems. The rain here continues all week. If we eventually get more seasonal temperatures, we'll be in for a shock as it sure doesn't feel like it's the first week of June. Definitely no need for A/C yet. You have inspired me to bake bread today too!

Isn't that plant a perennial geranium "Johnson's Blue"?
ReplyDelete- Sheila
Johnson's Blue is more floppy than this one, and taller.
DeleteHigh temps with a load of humidity, welcome to Texas! I would sure enjoy the cooler temps you have. All the flowers are beautiful, they are one of God's most beautiful creations. Hope you have a great week ahead.
ReplyDeleteGood idea about the bread-baking! Maybe you are at it this moment.
ReplyDeleteWhen the weather is dreary the flowers are more welcome than ever!
-Gretchen Joanna
It's sure hot and HUMID here today. We had thunderstorms on and off all weekend. Today is sunny but tomorrow is supposed to be raining again. Everything is so green and lush right now. I hope your bread turns out great. There is nothing like homemade bread!
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Betsy
Your flowers are gorgeous - I especially love the lavender and white iris. I did not know that about the Oriental poppies. Imagine seeing a field of those vibrant colours flowering in the wild, must be so beautiful :)
ReplyDeleteI'm quite sure that low growing blue flower is a type of Companula. I have one like it blooming now too. Your irises are so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI do love Mock Orange. The scent can be almost overpowering. Is your blue flower one of the little Campanulas, maybe?
ReplyDeleteYour flowers are looking lovely.
ReplyDeleteI particularly like the oriental poppies and I think the little blue flowers may be Campanulas.
Enjoy your bread making.
All the best Jan
The blooms are beautiful. Our days have been starting off dreary and ending up sunny.
ReplyDeleteThe Orange Poppies are stunning! Yes Campanula...it reseeds all over:)
ReplyDeleteYour flowers are beautiful. We have had such wonderful weather I will hate to see it go. They are calling for rain thru through Sunday.
ReplyDeleteLast year the rain just would not stop most of our gardens were a complete mess. So I am wishing for a better summer.
Cathy
Your flowers are good friends for you and you are a good friend for your flowers. The weather makes what it wants and is not always a good friend.
