Biscuits, Buns, and Books

It's another mild winter day. Hardly feels like January. I thought I'd bake today so I got some sweet dough going in the breadmaker to make cinnamon buns.   Meanwhile I made some cheese biscuits. Mine are not nearly as uniform as these from the internet.

More of the books I received for Christmas. I finished The Orphan Collector that I mentioned last time. It was rather depressing.  I'm undecided which book to read next. Hopefully one that's more uplifting.

The first pan of cinnamon buns is out of the oven. One more to go. Thanks for visiting,

  1. You're such a great baker.....wish I had more of your ambition! Your books look interesting. I got 3 new ones for Christmas and have just started on the first one. then I found one online that I decided I wanted to read, so I have ordered that one. Then a girlfriend just sent me a box of Christmas cookies and candy and 2 new books! Ha.....Looks like I'll be reading for quite some time. (of course I never stop!) Happy New Year to you and yours. We have very little snow so far this year....suppose to be an El Nino year I hear....so far it is.

  2. We had a very cold day today compared to what it's been like. The next week sounds like more of the same with snow in the forecast too. Your baking sounds delicious and I would love one of those cinnamon rolls. Yum!

  3. We enjoy cheese biscuits here at our house too. I found a copycat Red Lobster recipe for them and I use a cookie scoop to drop them out. Your cinnamon roll looks delicious and I had to smile when I saw the plate it was on. That's the same design of my mother-in-law's first set of dishes when she went to housekeeping. My father-in-law bought them for her and the name of the design is Hazel...whcih was my mother-in-law's name. :-) So sweet.

Thank you for the bit of a review of The Orphan Collector. I saw it come up on Thrift Books, too and considered ordering it, but since you found it depressing I think I will pass. Thanks so much!

  5. Here in the Bavarian Forest it is mild, rainy and stormy: So we cannot say really "mild"! We expect ice and snow next week. I wish you to find now a nice book to enjoy!

  6. Cheese biscuits and cinnamon buns are both so delicious. It's been mild here, too, and we had some lovely sunshine today. Doesn't feel like January at all.

  7. I love cinnamon buns especially when I go to IKEA they have good ones. I also like to bake cheese biscuits with oatmeal.

  8. Happy reading... these cheese cookies look delicious and I'm also familiar with cinnamon rolls... I think I'll go into the kitchen and stir up some dough. Kind regards to you from Viola

  9. I can recommend the author Anne Tyler. She's quirky and funny and her writing is irresistible to me. My favorite is "Ladder of Years", but anything I've read by her is up there at the top of my favorite list. Linda imagesisee.blogspot.com

  10. I tried making Cinnamon Buns once but they were an absolute disaster and I've never tried again. I do enjoy eating other people's if you want to come here and make some for me :)
