We were surprised to find a skiff of snow had fallen overnight. It would seem as if winter has arrived. We had a lovely walk around nearby Mill Lake. Yesterday we walked over at Willband ( a 6km drive away). No flooding there although the water level seemed high.
We had some worried hours when we couldn't find Miss Kitty on Saturday. She didn't show up for her supper nor Sunday breakfast. We looked in all the places where she sometimes sneaks in and gets shut up but...no response to our calls. Finally in the afternoon she showed up at the door looking all innocent and wanting food. Needless to say we were happy to see her safe and sound.
We also had some worried hours when granddaughter Kate was admitted to the hospital in great pain. After a couple of days and a variety of tests it was determined that the poor girl has pancreatitis.
Now a new week begins and I, of course, am doing laundry. Supper today will be an Impossible Caramelized Onion Quiche and Apple Crisp. ( I try not to start the oven for one thing so I felt I had to make the Apple Crisp.
Thanks for visiting!!
I'm glad that Kitty showed up, but I am sorry to hear about your granddaughter. That's a lot for her to deal with.
ReplyDeleteThe Caramelized onion Quiche sounds amazing and I definitely understand why you felt you HAD to make the Apple Crisp, too. :-)
Well, the Kitty scare turned out to be just a kitty adventure, but poor granddaughter will have to suffer more pain and treatment. Having answers is good though.
ReplyDeleteSupper today will be homemade habrurgers and chips, while we watch the Husky,/Wolverine national champ football game.
Glad kitty made it back home safe and sound. Sorry to hear about your granddaughter and hope she feels better soon. Apple Crisp, sounds yummy. I like baked goodies, but I never make any. I don't like baking so once in awhile cheat and buy something. But, it's probably good I don't bake, as I surely don't need the calories.
ReplyDeleteI do hope your granddaughter gets the treatment she needs and recovers well.
ReplyDeleteGood to hear that kitty finally showed up at home. Wonder what she was up to in her absence?
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry to hear about your granddaughter having pancreatitis. My husband spent several days in the hospital with it several years ago and I remember how painful it was for him. I do hope your granddaughter feels much better soon. She will be in my thoughts.
I would say after all of these worrisome things, the apple crisp is a necessity. Enjoy!
I can feel with you, how you missed Kitty!!
ReplyDeleteBest wishes for your dear granddaughter. She is thanks goodness in good hands, I think.
I also had my big cleaning-day today, as every Monday. But because of the festive period it was very necessary :)))) Now I'm tired, but released, I think, you, too!
I always wonder where on a earth a cat goes when he/she doesn't show up for hours or days. Some years back a favorite cat disappeared and was gone for nearly a month. We had given up hope of his return when he reappeared, very thin, very hungry, glad to be home but without an explanation for his absence.
ReplyDeleteSuch a worry when a family member or dear friend is in pain. I hope the issue is quickly sorted for your granddaughter.
Your quiche and apple crisp sound just delightful! We had a crockpot concoction that turned out good....my husband especially liked it so that's always good. Topped that off with choc. cream pie. Now we're ready to watch the National College Football Championship game. Lots of good football this time of the year. We love it! Take good care, Granny.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about your granddaughter. I remember my father had that and it was very painful.
ReplyDeleteSure glad Miss Kitty showed up.
Pancreatis is so painful, hope Kate feels better soon. Just like a cat, go wandering around and back home on their own time! Glad Miss Kitty found her way back.
ReplyDeleteI'll be praying for your granddaughter but glad that they've figured out the problem and and can take care of it. Kitty's can be so worrisome too. To disappear and reappear acting like everything is normal after you've worried like crazy.
ReplyDeleteYour quiche and apple crisp sound yummy. I had a beef roast in the crockpot today while we've been inside during a winter storm warning. It's been snowing most of the day and supposed to all night too. We'll see. It doesn't seem to be accumulating much yet.
Blessings and hugs,
Betsy
I hope your granddaughter soon feels better. Pancreatis sounds painful. Glad Kitty reappeared. The quiche you made sounds delicious. As I write on Monday evening the rain is dripping on the roof - no snow here, but I keep hoping. Maybe later in the week when the temps drop.
ReplyDeleteOh dear, I am feeling for Kate. That is so painful, but I hope it is coming right now and she is feeling better.
ReplyDeleteLittle innocent Miss Kitty made me smile - it seems cats just sometimes seem to want to follow their own path, which is always distressing for us humans. We "lost" one once for nearly a week after she went walk-about on the farm.
Good morning, Granny Marigold! Just stopping by to say “hi”. I love your photo of that bridge — I love bridges and gates and yours is really nice!
ReplyDeleteGlad Kitty is back. My son’s cat’s name is also Kitty.
ReplyDeleteI hope your granddaughter will feel better soon. Today we have snow!
I love to make quiche.
Oh your poor grand I hope she is better. And so glad kitty showed up. Dinner sounds wonderful
ReplyDeleteCathy
Pleased Miss Kitty came back safe and sound.
ReplyDeleteSorry to read about your granddaughter, I wish her well.
All the best Jan
Oh my, poor Kate! How worrisome! Pancreatitis is so painful. I hope they find the cause and that she is feeling better soon!
