It is another very wet morning. Walking paths are under water and walking on the sidewalk means that cars will certainly splash you. So I considered what I should do with an unexpected hour....The kitchen needed warming up and there was nothing tempting for tea time so I baked scones. While they baked I had my first cup of tea. I know the tea is hardly visible but it's Stash's Lemon Ginger and it doesn't get any darker. I add thin slices of real ginger to the tea pot to give the brew a bit more zip.
The teacup is Royal Albert Laurentian Snowdrops.
No snowdrops here as yet but hopefully it won't be long before the rain washes away the last of the snow and the earth thaws. When it stops raining I want to go out and see how the Hellebores are doing. Just thinking about Snowdrops and Hellebores makes my heart happy.
I found some lovely Primroses at the plant shop. I chose 2 Primula vulgaris ( common primrose) and 2 Primula acaulis. The latter come in colours I've never seen before in a primrose. The one one the left is actually coral and the yellow one has frilly blossoms. I put all 4 in a large pot on the porch where I hope they'll be happy.
I hope your day is going well. Thanks for taking the time to visit.
I love that magazine and the tea sounds delicious. There will be snow on our ground for some time yet. We got more today so there is about 8 to 10 inches on the ground right now. But just thinking of gardening brings a smile.

The frilly blossoms are so pretty!
ReplyDeleteHere in the Bavarian Forest it is wet and mild, too. Flowers still are sleeping, but the forsythia show some energy! The earth still is frozen, because it was very cold. Weather does what it wants! Nice photo with the teacup and tea. I LOVE ginger in my tea! Nice primroses with special colors and form.
ReplyDeleteThe rain never showed up here today like it was supposed too.
ReplyDeletePretty teacup.
There was a bit of sunshine late this afternoon, so welcome after a very rainy day. A few flowers are peeking up here. Ginger in tea is supposed to be great for boosting immunity. And it tastes good, too. Love the teacup.
ReplyDeleteAhhh...scones and tea on a rainy day...sounds wonderful! We are just now getting our rain this evening. Some of our 14 inches of snow melted today with the temperature up to 51, but this rain will definitely help to rid us of more snow. Then there will be flooding in parts of our state.
ReplyDeleteThe primrose are beautiful! So delicate.
What pretty flowers to brighten up a dreary winter day :)
ReplyDeleteSeveral of our hellebore are about to break bud, and the patch of snowdrops outside my front window are in bud but, as usual, will take their time opening. I'm enjoying some slow days and got my sewing machine set up to do some little projects.
ReplyDeleteLook through your magazine and dream of Spring . . . Soft sweet flower petals that fill the air with perfume. It won't be long.
ReplyDeleteJust love your pretty primroses! And your lemon tea and scones sounds good too. Our below zero weather has scooted for the time being and we may get into the 40's F. next week. Hope that makes winter go faster! Take good care Granny!
ReplyDeleteMy hellebores are blooming now! I noticed them the other day. Sorry about your soggy weather. After such cold temps last week, we are nice and springy this week. That won't last! The magazine and tea and scones sound absolutely wonderful.
ReplyDeleteDear Granny Marigold, I have a question because of my little comment-picture. I cannot comment with my small picture, in no blogs. Can you tell me, what your daughter made with your blog? Did she just change the browser? When my son has a free day, maybe he can help me.. Many greetings to you from Dori from the Bavarian Forest
ReplyDeleteHere, the same weather as at your place, Granny, I think. But now it's dry for a bit, and with my coat on, I sat in the garden with a cup of coffee. I just wanted to say that I love your cup and saucer with the snowdrops. Yesterday, I saw the first snowdrops in my garden. Maybe I'll take a photo of them later. Don't you think we become happier with spring flowers? Your primroses are so beautiful. I bought some violets, and I'm going to put them outside later. They're really cute, and I'm thinking about writing a blog post about them. Sweet regards from the Netherlands xxx, Aritha https://momentsfrozentime.blogspot.com/
ReplyDeleteSuch pretty Primroses. It's been a good number of years since I've purchased any. Thanks for the reminder, must put that on my list. What a pretty teacup. I've had the lemon ginger tea, but didn't find it very full of flavor. Maybe I need to try a different brand.
ReplyDeleteIt’s all grey here at the moment. I love your tea cup it is very nice !
ReplyDeleteI had Victoria magazine in the past but can’t get it anymore here.
I baked scones two weeks ago.
Your tea time sounds perfectly elegant, and delicious in every way.
ReplyDeleteHello Granny Marigold, it looks like you had a lovely morning. It sounds like a day out of an old fashioned English storybook, fresh baked scones, lemon ginger tea served in a pretty little china cup while listening to the rain as you warm yourself by the kitchen oven. The primroses are lovely, a reminder that the darkest days of winter are over and spring is coming soon. A blessed new year to you.
ReplyDeleteGood morning, Granny Marigold! Just stopping by to say hi — that tea looks yummy and I love Victoria magazine as well. The flowers are lovely! I really want it to stop raining. One thing about Texas — it just doesn’t know when to stop!
ReplyDeleteHello GM. It seems everyone has been experiencing bad weather in one form or another, I guess we should expect it in the winter months. Lemon ginger tea sounds so refreshing, and I know it must taste better when drinking from a pretty teacup♥
ReplyDeleteSuch pretty Primroses!
