Still Cold

It is still unusually cold here but ever so slowly the temperatures are rising. Snow is expected later in the week.  The cold resulted in Willband Creek freezing over and the younger generation took full advantage of the ice.

No laundry is being done on this chilly Monday because that room still has frozen water pipes.

We walked around Mill Lake this morning but yesterday we just couldn't face the cold so we walked in the mall.  Stores don't open before 11 on Sunday but the mall is open earlier for people to walk. It's quite a big mall and one walks in a big circle. After a couple of rounds we were tired out. Came home and had a rest.

That's it  for today. Thanks for visiting.

  1. It seems like it is COLD everywhere right now. Good for you for walking outside and inside. I've gotten to be a big wimp when it comes to cold weather. Most of my walks are around the house keeping track of my steps on my watch. It's good to see the young people out enjoying the icy creek.
Frozen pipes are not nice. I hope they thaw out soon.

  3. I enjoyed your blog and photos for a moment. It's like looking through a little window into a different environment, another country, another culture. So delightful. Brrr, stay warm and cozy indoors with that cold weather!

  4. Interesting that the creek froze so quickly. Is that because it is fairly shallow? I'm happy for the skaters!

  6. Your pictures reminded me of when I was that age. We would spend a lot of time on ice just like that. Although I remember a lot more snow!

  9. I'm glad to hear your temperatures are rising again, even if slowly. What a wonderful mall to open up like that for walkers, it is a great idea, very community minded, especially in your freezing weather. Stay warm :) xx

  10. Our mall is open every morning for walkers too. We've walked a couple of times but it's about 12 miles from here so decided it wasn't worth the drive. We have a lovely outdoor walking path in our town but in the winter it can be a little dicey for us older folks to walk with all the snow and ice. Have a great week!

  12. I go walking in Dubai Mall when it’s too hot . Malls are nice places to do exercise they are very big places. Here we are having frost too and waiting for snow which is unusual.

  13. Oh so very cold I see! The young people have good joy! I remember me spending with my family a lot of time on the ice, when our children were small. But now I have to be careful, because my sheep don't allow me (old Mama) to brake my foot! :) It's cold here, too.

  14. Open cabinet doors or closet doors on outside facing walls...We place heaters facing under our kitchen sink...on the living room wall by the pitcher window...and one in the closet on the northside wall for my washer. These are all areas where there are faucet pipes outside. We never have frozen pipes!
    Stay warm!

  15. Good morning, Granny M! Your photos look so cold! I don’t care for cold weather so I am way out of my comfort zone — looking forward to the end of the week when we warm up a bit. Stay warm and safe!

  16. It's still COLD here too. We're leaving tomorrow in the midst of a heat wave. It's supposed to get up to 11F. Whoo-hoo. Then it's back To -19F for Friday night. We're leaving for Texas tomorrow where we hoped it wold be warmer, but it's still pretty cold there. I'm finding myself wishing I could stay home.
It looks like the kids are having fun on the ice and I think the mall is a brilliant solution for nasty days.
    Blessings,
    Bets

  17. I'm sorry to hear that the pipes are still frozen in the laundry area. Glad you have a warm and safe place to walk when it is too cold to be outside. The skaters look as though they are enjoying the ice on the creek.
